New Children of Dune Miniseries Podcast & More Good Writing News
I'm on the latest Geeks Guide to the Galaxy, plus a new non-fiction book, Brooklyn reading, and a story sale
Hello friend! I hope you are well.
As you probably know by now, I’m always ready and willing to discuss all things Dune, and this week does not disappoint!
In the latest Geeks Guide to the Galaxy, I join Andrea Kail, Rajan Khanna, and host David Barr Kirtley to discuss the 2003 SyFy miniseries Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune.
Far better than the first Frank Herbert’s Dune SyFy miniseries, this three-episode adaptation of the books Dune Messiah and Children of Dune is a solid piece of work, and it suggests that Dune Messiah may not be as unfilmable as originally supposed. This gives me great hope for the future Denis Villeneuve film.

Writing News
If you haven’t seen, I released a book of writing advice: Dispatches from the Outer Deep: A Guide to Writing, Editing, Submitting and Publishing Short and Long Fiction. It’s a collection of essays on writing I originally published in my other blog. For a short while last week, it was Amazon’s #1 new release in Writing Advice!
I’ll be reading tomorrow, May 21st, at the Brooklyn Books & Booze reading series alongside Nicholas Kaufmann, M.M. DeVoe, and Christina Cooke. If you are local, I hope you’ll drop in to listen.
I sold a reprint of “White Roses in Their Eyes,” which originally appeared in the anthology Other Covenants: Alternate Histories of the Jewish People to the anthology And One Day We Will Die, edited by Patrick Barb, to be published by Hungry Shadow Press.
Vague-blogging some other big sales that I hope to announce in the next week!
That’s it for now. Thanks for subscribing and see you in the next email.
